Pain and Autism in Children and Youth

Department of Pediatrics, UBC & Complex Pain Service, BC Children’s Hospital Project ongoing

Investigate prevalence, triggers, and sex/gender influences on daily experiences of acute and chronic pain in young people with ASD. Listen to the experiences of young people who live with both ASD and chronic pain, particularly with respect to diagnostic uncertainty, developmental impacts, and the role of gender in pain. Conduct a validation study to determine whether administrative health data can be used to identify pain in ASD.
